fuel leak from water separator valve, can it be overhauled or need to be replaced?

I cannot seem to get the fuel leak from my wtare separator to stop. I have flipped the lever up and down tryign to get whatever to seat properly. Has anyone torn one fo these apart? Are there O rings that can be rpelaced? Dealer wants $45.00 just for the lever assembly. This is on a 2001 Dodge Ram CTD 5.9 I lose enough fuel pressure after 3 days that the engine doesn't want to start. Can anyone help out there? Thanks.

when i picked up my 96 from texas and when north with it, after a over nite stay where it froze hard, the next day i had to replace the fuel filter and water drain assembly because it cracked when the water that was in it froze.
maybe this dosn't apply

Well I can see where that could happen....but the temp here in southern Arizona has only gotten to 27 degrees and yes that is freezing, but it has been leaking for some time now. It seems the former owner never really drained the water and after I puchased the truck, I drained the water and ever since then I can't seem to get it to stop leaking. I was wondering if there are "O" rings in it that could be replaced. I have the lever assembly ordered but the Dodge dealer won't have it until Weds and like I said, I'm starting to lose enough fuel that the truck won't start.
Thanks for your input..............maybe being a 2001 and it's 7 years now, maybe the valve or somethign is just wore out.
I'd still like to hear what some others think it may be or what may fix it.

If the drain wont seal for a temp fix try plugging off the hose with a clamp and a bolt or something silimar, until you can replace the valve assy. Ive never had one apart but have heard they "stick" so try working it off/on it might work out what ever is hanging it up.

Cummins sells a kit for this fix for $8. It is simple to install and cheap. Don't go to dealer, they don't like to make a decent profit.

Thanks for the advice, I'll sort of feel bad not giving Dodge that $40 profit and have them go into the black for this year but I'll just have to live with myself.
