I have a 2001 dodge, that i ran out of fuel. (I know dumb) I have changed the fuel filter twice, but i cant get it to run smooth. I will start and idle for a few minutes, even allow to run up to 3000, then begins to cough and sputter and billow white smoke... ultimately dies. No power, and i cant get it straight? any clues, I am at a loss ( yes i did fill it back up with diesel not gasoline)

 

Do you have any codes? Turn the key on-off-on-off-on, but don't start the truck. Odometer window will show p pcm and if there is a code it will display it then done. Wait a few seconds and it will check the ecm and give a code or show done.
Do you have a fuel pressure gauge?
There will be others that know a lot more about 2nd gen then I do. But is a place to start.

 

I will check for them in the morning, sorry no fuel pressure gauge, I have buddies who tell me i need them! So i better look at getting them
