Well it's not my truck it's my Girl friends truck...yesterday when she shut it off it had 3/4 of a tank of gas and when she fired it up today she had 1/8 a tank....and i know it's not leaking gas...also last time it was filled up it was way past E the furthest i have ever seen a guage go....so i filled it up and it only took 27.4 Gallons and i toped it off several times letting the foam go down each time.

Usually when you fill it and it goes past the empty mark thats a good indication the sending unit in the tank is worn out. Had the same thing on my 95 a few times during the time I owned it.

thats kinda what i thought....where would i get one and do i have to drop the tank to install it?....I have drop the tank in my car but it's less the half the size and it still wasn't fun

 

I had to get mine from the dealer but you could try an aftermarket supplier. I had someone do it for me as I never have any luck getting the fuel lines off without snapping the rusty things!! :

My truck was less than a year old when the sending unit went bad. Dealer fixed it.

 

Yeah last time i worked with a gas tank was on a friend jeep i was under it and they drop the 1/2 full tank on my chest....i had to wait there while they redid the fuel lines that they snaped droping it...so i dont look forward to trying this on my own...the truck still has and extended warenty but i dont know if it will cover this.
