Red face fuel filter replacement opps...

Ok, so I should have known better. This is my first Cummins and had it about 2 months and am giving it a once over. I replaced the fuel filter and I did not drain the fuel out of the canister before removing and reinstalling the fuel filter. Anyways, I did not notice anything in the canister, reinstalled the new filter and its been running fine for 3 weeks. The question I have is, should I drain the canister, inspect the insides for junk and reinistall? How much damage have I done to the lp44?

Dont lose any sleep over it. There is a filter on the pickup in the tank so I think youll be ok. This should help you to remember to drain the fuel from the filter housing next time.

If you did not see anything in the bowl you are fine. The fuel in the bowl has to go throught the filter before it can leave the cannister anyway. It goes from the outside of the filter to the inside, and out to the IP. No worries.

I hope you are using filters from Fleetguard. Less expensive than the dealer$.
