Angry Fuel filter price ... WOW!

I noticed my fuel pressure has dropped about 1 PSI and I'm getting below average fuel economy, so I decided to change out my fuel filter ... even though it's been only 6500 miles since the last change. Called the autoparts store, "We'll have it by 2" ... Cool!

Get to the store ... Wix 33349 ... $32.01!!!!!!! I nearly fell over! I could have sworn I got the last one for under $20, but the store owner denies ever selling them for less than $26 ... am I dreaming???

Got home and started looking around on the internet. For those who use Wix filters, I found this site:

http://www.fleetfilter.com/index.html

Maybe you've all heard of it before, I haven't ... and I refuse to be ripped off again!

46272 Air Filter: $12.90 each
33349 Fuel Filter: $12.41 each
51607 Oil Filter: $3.78 each

Cheers,
Andrew

Guys try http://www.genosgarage.com the service packs are the way to go if you are still running stock air boxes and fuel filter canisters.

I think NAPA here sells them(NAPA brand, but made by WIX) for like $16 or $18.

My roommate works there though and can get them for $10

Well, just changed the filter and the fuel pressure dropped another 1PSI ... what's that all about???? 13 PSI @ idle and 11 @ cruise and 10 @ WOT ... still not too shabby!

Got a New VP44 via Cummins warranty at the dealer about a month ago.
$44.00 for the MOPAR filter, and $22.00 to install it.
NICE!

piperca, I have noticed the same thing with my fuel pressure. From one day to the next it might fluctuate 1-2 psi. Sometimes it's as low as 7 psi wot and other times it won't go below 9 on the same stretch of road. I think it's the bypass not opening consistantly at the same pressure. Anyway Geno's garage is where I buy my filters.

I am still not walking normally!

Good news is; fuel pressure is back up to 14 psi ... not sure why it's doing that. Barry, you might be right about the bypass.
