Can’t get my fuel filter to stop leaking. I have changed the drain mechanism twice but still slowly drips. Has anyone converted the fuel filter to the spin on style on the first gen trucks?

 

I'm not sure what all the differences are between gen 1 and gen 2 but I did convert to a spin on filter on my gen 2 when I went to a P pump. The local metal shop bent me a 1/4" inch plate as a mounting bracket. The filter and filter mount are Wix 33528 and 24770 respectively. Of course the plumbing needed to be re-engineered and the new spin on is not going to be easily accessible when it comes time for a change but I'm pretty happy with it compared the stock filter. You can see it buried back behind the pump in the pic below.

It's probly cracked or the gasket surface is damaged. My route would be replace it with a new factory one for less headaches in another 310k.....just my 2 cents....
