front TIRES BURNING ON THE OUTSIDE

i have a 1.5 pr 2 inch leveling kit, 2001 dodge ram 2500 series. I was just curious if it was just my upper ball joints that is causing my problem.

What are your alignment readings? How often do you rotate tires?

Are they just wearing more to the outside, or are they cupping? I'm not sure what ya mean by burning

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Should have checked for BJoint wear when aligned. Big mistake is alignment shops don't pay attention to alignment. Put on green and call it fine. Besides two machines will not agree for most part. Take the toe to near zero. May even go slightlly toe out.

It could simply be you are cornering too fast. With a lift kit you raise the center of gravity of the truck. It will lean more and scrub the tires more. Oh, yeh, and it will also burn more fuel.

Good way to check is jack up the whole front end and pry on the bottom of the tire, see if there is any movement. These trucks are also known for hub problems, especially if ya got oversize tires. And like dozer said, prolly toe. Not always, but worn ball joints tend to make the insides wear. They wear out, and the weight of the truck makes em camber in a bit, wearing the inside tread.

1.) Set to close to zero or maybe 1/4" in.
2.) Inflate to 65psi or greater.
3.) Rotate on a normal basis.

Those three should take care of your problem in the future.

If your ball joints are shot then it's a different story, maybe they didn't check them?

Now if your truck was aligned properly, you shouldn't have any outer tire wear. If anything, you should have inner tire wear because these trucks use a solid front axle, that's why it's important to rotate your tires on time. My bet is, they didn't align it properly. The "green" zone is too broad on the machines and these trucks need closer alignment.

See this thread for specs:
