First of all, Welcome to DTR.

Yes that does seem a little high. A valve job can be done with basic hand tools and a set of feeler guages and 2 hours of your time. I learned how to do it and it only cost me a 12 pack for the guy that taught me.

On the fuel sytem cleaner I would tell them no. You probably won't know what they are putting in there. I would reccomend to you to run a good diesel fuel additive at each or every other fillup. Some good examples are Howes, Stanadyne, Power Service (widely available).

Welcome abord!

What millage is your truck? The valves do not need to be adjusted untll 100,000 miles or so. If you are in that millage range and do not want to do this yourself, call your local cummins dealer for a quote.

About your IP, check you lift pump ASAP. Mine was just replaced under warranty without replacing the lift pump. I changed out the lift pump when I returned the truck home since the lift pump was begining to die (what was replaced under warranty 8,000 miles ago).

If you have you dealer do this, they will try to install the in tank lift pump.

There are many different solutions for this such as the Vulcan, Scotty systems, fass, rasp, p-pusher, holley blue, etc. You just have to search and decide what is best for you.

HTH,

Joe

If you git the injector pump free... must be still under waranty? Or is it new to you with short term dealer coverage?
Valves should not need adjusting till 150,000 miles. If under warranty, not that many miles???

Forget the cleaner for the fuel system. As mentioned, you can do that for yourself (every tank) and clean the system up gradually over 5,000 miles.

Welcome to our little slice of heaven.

I will just tell you the same as every one else, tell the dealer no and do the valve adjust your self. It's really easy.

Also as mentioned above, if it's still under some sort of waranty better have them check the Lift Pump right now. You drive that out of there and the lift pump is bad your brandy new Injection Pump will be toast again soon. If for some reason the LP isnt covered let us know we can give you MANY sugestions what to do at that point..
