Extra wire

Ok I just put a lift pump in a 01 Cummins mason dump. I noticed that there was like an extension wire in the box. Does anyone know what it is for? Thanx,

The late 98 and 99 24 valve trucks use the adapter harness to be able to plug the old connector into the newer pump's relocated plug.
