Engine Codes??

I was reading on another web site about getting the engine codes out of the pickup. You know, three turns of the ignition without staring the vehicle. I got three codes, two I understand and the third I don't. But after looking at what the code might mean, I thought I better get some advice.

Here is the code: it comes up PCU then P1693.

One of the sites that I have looked at said this was "Turbo Charge Control Circuit Malfunction". Does anyone know what this means? Or what I should do?

Thanks to all!

More to come...

I forgot to mention this is a 2001, 24v with 6spd if that makes any difference. Mileage is about 98k.

The P1693 actually means a companion code is stored in the PCM. If you are having troubles you may need to take it in and have the codes pulled, the PCM codes are not displayed on the speedo as I found out when i had the APPS go on my truck.

Good Luck

Ok...

So far the truck is running like a dream..not a skipped beat or anything. Does that mean that I can let it go for now?

Take it to an Autozone, they will scan the codes free.

You haven't done anything to get an overboost condition have you? Like a box?

Not that I know of..

As far as I know, there has been nothing done to this pickup. But I just bought it, too. So there could have been and don't know. Is there a way to check?

If a box has been removed, it would be hard to tell it was ever on the truck. Unless Cummins scanned the computer to check all of the specifics on the engine. Sounds like it's running allright. Let it go.
