Engine Clicking sometimes before starting

So... when i go to start my truck it just clicks like the battery is dead, i turn the key off and try again and it turns over and starts no problem. Any ideas? i was thinking maybe the starter is going, i just installed 2 new batteries about 1 month ago, could it be a loose connection? Thanks for any advice.

Yes it sounds like your starter solenoid is going to give out I had it with a 96 1/2 ton 5.2 two winters ago same problem.

Starter contacts, easy fix.

I got heavy duty ones from the local battery place, $6.75 for both.

Look just like Larry B's 30 dollar ones!

You may find you need a new plunger, but most times the original is ok. There are three or four different ones so you can't plan ahead and have one handy til you know which one you have, measure it and get a back up for next time if you are really out in the stix.
