WOWZERS!!
The place that I used to get my Carter pumps from has upped the price by about $30.

They're now $160 a pop.
I just ordered a new Walbro for 94 bucks.
But I already have the pressure regulator and bypass hoses installed.

If you have any mechanical abilities whatsoever, you can replace the lift pump yourself in about 1/2 hour tops. However, they do not seem to last very long. There are plenty of stories on this forum of the replacement pumps not even lasting a week. Almost any of the aftermarket lift pumps will long outlast the stock type. Depending on where you live, you probably have a diesel shop not too far away that can install something else for you if you are not up to it.

so it sounds like I should find something that is aftermarket and will bolt right up where the old lift pump does? Any brands that you guys are accustomed to? Called the dealer just to see what they would say and they want 599.00 for a new in the tank option for just the part..

As I have stated earlier, I am very happy with my Airdog setup. Have them on all my trucks now with no issues to complain about. You can purchase these setups right here at the DTR store. There are other options though as well. I think the Raptor pumps from Pureflow mount in the stock location, but I am not sure. At least they come with a 6 year warranty (if you send your registration card in right away).
Whatever you do, stay away from the in tank fuel pump as it is costly to work around when you realize just how failure prone it is as well...

looks like the air dog will probably be the one. I believe this mounts on the frame and comes with all the hardware to hook it up correct? Or do I need more fuel line, ect..

Check with Lary in the DTR OnLine store if you decide to go with the AirDog.

just been checking out the install procedure. It seems fairly easy to do. Since I don't have the factory in tank pump will I be able to just hook the new fuel line right were the old one goes in. Seems like that is the only difficult part to do if you need to drop the tank to add the straw in the tank.

Thanks again for being patient with all my questions guys. Makes buying the right part all that much easier.

We're here to help.

Not too much on these vehicles is "rocket surgery".
Heck, if I can do it,.... anyone can.

I recently bought a FASS DDRP2 for $250 and my pressure is up to 20psi at idle/12 psi wide open (post filter) with a 4 year warranty (mail the card in). It is built to mount right in place of the stock lift pump, but I moved it down on the frame rail for less vibration and heat - very pleased with it.

New air dog lift pump has been installed and truck is running great. By far a simple installation for just about anybody. Thanks again for all the info everybody.

Only downfall is where the new line goes into the VP44 at the banjo bolt there is not a spot for the fuel preasure gauge to screw into anymore. Is there a new banjo bolt with a "T" on it so I can hook my issapro fuel preasure gauge back up?

I'll post all the pics of the install here soon.
