Diesel Fuel Modifier, Is it worth it??

I sold my DDII’s with about 30,000 miles on them. I puled them out and boxed them up to ship them to a person in texas.. I took the rubber cap off the V’s and slid it right on the DDII’s I didn’t realy look at them (I was more interested in the V’s) I got an email back that I think is of worthy notice to post.

Couple of quick questions. How many miles are on the injectors and
do you run any type of fuel additive to your diesel. The reason I ask, is
because the tips of the injectors are so clean. I originally installed a set
of 275 injectors in my truck. I worked like hell to get what I thought to
be a thick layer of carbon off them. You couldn't even get the copper
washers off. After I pulled my stock injectors, they had about as much
carbon as the used 275's had. Yours look almost pristine, and I am trying to
figure out how you keep them like that. I can only imagine that the rest of
your combustion chamber must be as spick and span at the injector

Yes I did use fuel additives Amsoil Diesel Fuel Modifier. Amsoil did pay off
Re:Diesel Fuel Modifier, Is it worth it??

This raises a question for me. I live in an area (Mexico) where the ONLY diesel I can get is very high in sulpher. Should I add a modifier and if so, how often? How about an injector cleaner and if so what kind etc?
03 Ram HO diesel.

I just wrote to Amsoil to find out if the Diesel Fuel Modifier will hurt the seals. This is there reply. OverFueled

QUOTE:
Alcohol is what causes the seals to dry up. The Diesel Fuel Modifier does not contain any alcohol and is safe for the entire fuel system.

Longtime Amsoil user/supporter here. Thanks for the info. Perhaps we will use it a bit more often now!
Howes Diesel Treat fan here(about 6 oz every fuel-up), also add about 6oz. of Howes Meaner Power Cleaner once a month in the warmer months.

Powerservice every tank full. Don't know if it makes a difference or not but it makes me feel good and that's all that matters.

I dump Howe's M.P.K. & Diesel Treat in every time I fill up. No measuring, just dump in a "that looks good" amount. ;D

Tony

I've used Rotella DFA in my 2000 and now in my 2002. Don't kow if it does anything but it says it does it all. From lube to clean. Figured Rotella would be as good as any based on their Rep ??? When I run out of Rotella this time I will try something else that is a big time lube agent. I think the lube part is the most important in the VP44 crowd.

I use either John Deere summer formula or Stanadyne Performance Formula in every tank. These two outperformed all others TESTED in a Southwest Research independent lab test for lubricity and cetane improvement.

Here is the test. Independent additive test

I know Amsoil is not in the test, so don't flame me about being an anti-Amsoilite. I did not do the test.

I try to use Stanadyne every other tank full but I haven't gotten my lazy butt up to go and buy some more.

Rotella DFA at Sam's club cost $33.00 for 4 galon case. Use 1 oz per 3 gallons of diesel. Hard to beat this price. Hope it's as good as the other stuff ???
