Did you know (99 owners)

This is a little tid bit for those of us that own a 99 model CTD.

Did you know that you can also check your ECM codes with your odometer like the 2000 and up models. The procedure is not the same but you can get the trouble codes.

With the key off hold down the trip reset button for a few seconds. Turn the key to the run position while holding down the reset button with out starting the truck and the odometer will read CHEC. You can now release the reset button and if your ECM has any stored codes they will display on the Odometer. The ECM will also run a gauge check after the codes have been displayed.

Good Luck

That works good, no stored codes, Is there a way to find a list of codes and what they stand for?

On my truck it showed no codes but the tech at the dealership said it works, it only show generic codes but will help steer you in the right direction if you don't own a code scanner.

By the way I checked the codes with my scanner as well and it also showed no codes. 8)

Who knows?

I'm just going by what I was told, I guess I could unplug the boost/map sensor and see what happens.

Or not.

Re:Did you know (99 owners)

After reading this thread about 5 minutes ago, I went out to mine and tried. I pressed the Trip Reset button for 10 seconds, turned on the key, waited another 5 - 10 seconds while still pushing the button and CHEC showed so I let off the button. So this worked on my 98.5

However, what does "Trip 888888" mean? That was the only thing that showed.
