cold start

has any one experianced the three cyl warm up mode yet?
the temp was below 0 this morning and it idled up to about 1200 rpm for a short time, and then went to three cylinders... it almost died but the other 3 cylinders kicked in for a moment ,then idled up again ....three cyl's kicked out again, i let it run for 10 or 15 minutes on three cylinders, then stepped on the brakes to disengage .idle was normal at this point.... away i went
so i suppose everthing is normal!

you know the first time mine did it at work one night. a guy can running up to me saying I think theres some thing wrong with yout truck it sounds like it though a rod. or some thing. I just laughed and said nope thats the 3 cyl cut out and high idle. it was funny. need less to say this is the same guy thats says his rusted out 82 ford 250 gaser can pull my dodge 3500 around the parking lot. as long as he can back up 10 ft before hooking up. but thats a whole another ball of wax argue ment

btw, you don't need to plug these in until it hits 15 or so.

i guess i would have it plugged in a lot, the temp right now is -2 and is supposed to get up to 36 today ..... lucky for me i'm retired, and don't need to start the truck every day, so if i need it i can plug it in a couple of hours ahead of time

Sure starts easier when I plug it in at 40F. No smoke, no wait to start, no high idle. Oil temp is higher so it flows better.

To each his own.

Bingo. Oil flows better when I plug it in below 40. I have 206K miles on my truck, I've been plugging it below 40 for 8 years. Not gonna change now. When I hit 500K miles I might change.

good point. so theres no way to get it to run the 3cyl mode, with it in the 30s and 40s.
