Is code p0622 related to TC lockup Switch?
Is code p0622 related to TC lockup Switch?
Just checked my truck for codes, came back with a few, but i know what they are related to, TC lockup switch and the MAD ECM. My question is, is the p0622 code also related to the TC lockup switch? I had the 0743 and 1765 code that are related to the switch but am wondering about the 0622 code. Thanks
the smarty code is 602 IIRC. P0622 Generator Field "F" Control Circuit Malfunction. Yeah its has everything to do with the lock up switch, if you use a 33ohm resistor you can leave the trans relay in and it will still work, and wont throw any codes

Thanks guys for the respone. Truck has been running just fine ever since i had the switch in there, well over a year, but i could not remember seeing that code before so that is why i asked the question. I might put a resistor in there and see what happens, thanks again.
Was confusing the two. Always got the 0602... but checked yesterday and the 0602 is gone and the 0622 has replaced it???
Not sure when or how it happened? Maybe the new beta program for Smarty eliminated the 0602?
I've had my 'mystery switch' for over a yr also .... with no negative side effects. Is the resistor needed?

Mystery Switch Help!!!!
I have also had the switch installed for a year with no problems until yesterday! (momemtary switch, relay out no resister)
Yesterday I noticed that the switch was not working, hey no big deal probably a loose wire? Checked everthing, jumper wire connection in relay space tight, metered a good ground (with switch) on B11 on Powertrain control plug, pulled both connectors on tranny and spray cleaned connecions.
We are 1500 miles into a 2000 mile trip from NC to AZ hauling a 10kLB 5th wheel. Yesterday when I lost the switch lock-up I was not hauling! The truck seams to run ok but I have not pulled the 5th wheel yet. Seams like shifts are not as quick/tight?? I really "baby" this rig but use the switch to shift to 3rd if I am at ~30mph and OD if over 45mph not hauling. When hauling and fairly level I use the switch over 30+ by backing off the throttle a little and hit the switch, I don't use the switch usually for OD under 60mph, same method.
So is it possible my TC Lock Solieoid is bad or very weak? Can I change that easily? Can I meter it out for resistance? Which pins?
Any ideas before I hock up the 5th wheel and go into the desert???????

Randy, Where are you installing it...in line?
And will it eliminate downshifting....even when lock up switch is on (grounded).
Have always read the tranny won't downshift with lock up activated.... but mine will if rpm's get low enough at WOT.

yup, anywhere in line will work, mine is between the switch and the ground. The down shifting comes from the valve bodies. Dusty says he can set them up either way, i had him set min up so it wont, makes it easier on the dyno, but a couple of guys around here have them set up so it will. Mines also setup so it will lock up when in manual second, that way i can lock it when i pull.
FYI...I believe all DTT's are full time locked in manual second. I know mine is anyway. It's a nice addition. I came off the top of Pikes Peak at close to gross wt, in second. Think I could have made it all the way down with no brakes if it wasn't for traffic.

My question is about this '33ohm resistor.' I as well am throwing p0622 and Hate codes!
What exactly is the resistor??
And with p0622 being.. Generator F-terminal circuit, how does that have to do with the switch? Is it cause the rans relay was pulled?
Very interested in this now. I have another post that I just installed a lockup switch. Works great but now after reading this I checked codes and have
PCU
622
743
500
1765
1693
ECU
1693
234
Never a code before. I was able to look up some of the codes in the wiki but most didn't show up? I can only assume the codes are because the computer can't read what's going on with the trans in lockup, the truck drives fine, but now this 33ohm resister sounds great to get rid of the codes.
Info anyone??

Yea yea Im throwing PCU p1765 and ECU p1693 as well as the PCU p0622!
I did a search on p0622 and read all 18 threads on it.
They mentioned..
p0622 is, alternator field no switching properly.. generator F terminal circuit... p1693 is, DTC detected in ECM/PCM
p1765 is, Trans 12 volt supply relay control circuit.
But no one thread really had a fix or exact problem to any of these codes.
Except this, 33ohm resistor. ???

Sounds fantastic to me! Is the resistor just something I can pick up at an auto shop? Im just starting to get savey with wiring. Mechanical is more what I can handle.
Do you just put it in line like a in line fuse would be put in?
EDIT.. I just looked up 33 ohm resistors on google and...
1st, Wich one? there are like 30 differant ones.
2nd, how do I connect it? I cant tell if thats wire or metal prong kinds things, but it doesnt look like I can just splice it in like normal wire or fuse like splice.
