Question Clutch(?) Shudder

I had the clutch redone (pressure plate, friction disc, TOB and pilot, resurfaced flywheel) about 2 yrs and 10K miles ago. Was never happy with the smoothness after the job, but lived with it. Now going to sell truck and this will be an obstacle.

Details: Seems ok without 14K 5th wheel on, as long as I baby it through engagement. With more power, I get a shudder that will shake your teeth out, particularly with a load on. Does not, interestingly, seem to relate to engine speed. The OE clutch was smooth.

Wondering if this is an engine or transmission mount (I will look tonight), or because I (against some advice) resurfaced rather than replace the flywheel, or ??? Truck pulls great once started from a dead stop, otherwise I am happy with it, just moving to a Class A MH.

what clutch did you install? most aftermarket ceramic clutches have a tendency to be grabby

I wouldn't worry about it as long as it doesn't slip under load, make sure you point that out to any potential buyers. Any clutch that is other then organic friction materials will be grabby, many after market clutches fall into this category.

I have a Kevlar/ceramic clutch, and I've found that with my trailer on the back the best way to launch is aggresively, a bit of throttle and letting the pedal out quick makes for a quick but smooth engagement. For backing up, either give it more throttle (up to 1200 or so) and feather the clutch or stick it in 4 low.

My OEM clutch sometimes shudders and sometimes its smooth. Not really sure why either but if its starts doing it I will start off in 2nd and then its stops shuddering from there on.
