clutch issues

ok when i start the truck and try to put it in gear it wont go in, but if i turn the truck off i can start it in gear and the truck immediatly goes forward with the pedal depressed and squels till you let the clutch out.can any one tell me if it just the trowout or pilot bearing or is it the entire clutch set. THANK YOU.

How many miles are on it?
Check Clutch master cylinder fluid.
It's not likely to be the pilot bearing, but the throwout bearing is definately a suspect.

My moneys on the pilot bearing! The throw out bearing would make noise but still disengage the clutch, with the clutch engaged the pilot bearing wouldn't need to turn.

Not that bad on a 5 speed as you need the big input shaft to do anything with it as far as a clutch goes...

My money would have been on the throwout bearing as I just pulled mine out w/ 78K on it and it was pretty noisy once I got it out. Didnt make any noise installed though...
