I use purple degreaser (strong 409). 409, murphy's oil soap, dawn dish soap really anything that is designed to break down grease and oil and is not industrial strength. Some of the industrial strength stuff can oxidize the fins.

The best I found is to use hot water and 409, to get things working. If it is possible to soak it, that helps to.

Some guys use a pressure washer, but I am to chicken, and the fins are really delicate so I just used the garden hose. Just give the degreaser time to work and you'll get er nice and shiny!!!

Are you talking about taking them off and cleaning the inside or just washing the outside?

Pull the radiator. That is what will be stopped up. Clean it with any degreaser that you have handy.
