That why I use Permatex Anaerobic Gasket Maker 518, made especially for the job and no wait time. Most auto parts carry it. One tube will last the life of your truck.

Can't emphasize enough how important it is to fill to a 1/2" below the fill hole on the rear diff and 3/4" below on the front.
95% of the rigs that come in with leaking differential seals are filled to the bottom of the fill hole. Most will stop leaking when enough has leaked out to reach the proper level but in the meantime can ruin brake shoes and pads.
