changed engine & tach quit and wont run

Had a 02 HO motor drop a valve and ruin head, and cylinder... Bout a 00 engine and swapped out..... I installed the Hot Rod vp44 off of the 02 onto the 00 engine... I also used the both computers from the 00... the one on the firewall and the one on the block... as well as using the wiring harness off of the 00.... Now my tach doesnt work..... the truck ran fine for about and hour with the tac not working... then it started to miss and pop, it also white smokes a little..... I know that the inj pump was good when i put it on... I also have good fuel pressure..... I installled both the cam sensor and the crank sensor, thinkin they may be the problem... I know that an 02 engine doesnt have a crank sensor only a cam sensor..... Also there are no codes when u turn the key on and off 3 times.... please help.... thanks...

Why such a miss match with the wiring? Why not just put all the 02 electrics on the 00 motor and leave the rest as it is? I think you answered your own question. Assuming the vp44 is good, I would change the harness and computers back and put all sensors from the 02 on the 00.

the tach on the 00 motor works strictly off the crank sensor, id pull it and check to c if its intact, hopefully the tone ring on the crank hasent gone missing, did u replace the ckp already before doing the swap.is the wiring harnes for the ckp attached ? u r right for using the 00 ecm, 00 was last year for ckp. I dont know a whole hell of a lot, but on your 02 the tach is fed by the cam sensor, u might have some wire tracing to do to get it to work in the dash. when my ckp got toasted it poped and missed like u describe, and of course the tach goes dead.make sure the o ring is intact, it seals and acts as a spacer so torque it correctly, too deep and it will hit the tone ring.
