Cant beat trans surge!!!

well lets start from the beginning 2 years ago i got my 99 in my sig and a month later it started the famous trans surge. so i contacted a friend at dodge and he had me solder in 2 ground wires off the ecm on the block to the firewall. problem was gone..... so i thought until this past janurary it started again on a road trip so i then. cleaned all terminals and all ground wires and ecm ground wire, everything and cleaned paint off contact points problem then gone until 2 weeks ago and i then re checked grounds, disconnected batteries cleaned battery cables they were a little dirty and it was gone again until now. its back and its vicious does it from 45 to whatever speed and i noticed today while driving home i slowing accelerated from 45 to 60 and it did it while accelerating. any more ideas its driving me crazy.

thanks in advance

I fought the problem for over a year....I even added that little noise suppressor. My buddy did a battery test under load and i had one battery weaker than the other. Replaced both last year, and havent had it come back yet !

Go to Radio Shack. Get what they call a ferrite choke for a 4 guage wire. Buy 2 while you are at it. Find the black wire with a brown stripe on it that comes out of the back of the alternator. Put one choke as close as you can to the back of the alternator and another as close as you can to the battery. Problems should be gone! I tried everything on my truck and this fixed it completely!!!!

Well knock on wood I wrapped the ground wire with aluminum foil and so far it is working fine. I already have the two ferrte chokes on it from years ago new apps two weeks ago chscked all grounds did the ecm bypass with a filter .If all it took was foil I think I will kick myself

Yeah that should fix it, at least for a while. I had the foil on mine and the ferrite chokes came last to fix it. Maybe yours required the reverse process...hahaha...hope your solution did the trick

more ideas??

check the tranny fluid level..mine started acting up recently and the low fluid was the cause..

add a ground wire near the apps(find the wire in apps harness) and connect to the driver battery ground. don't remove the wire from the apps harness just tap it.

disconnect the '0' battery..does it run fine?
a '0' CCA would mean the battery is open. then only one battery is working.

just wondering

I'm right there with you. Fought this for years as well. Disappears for a year or two then back. Grounds check out but never did the chokes or foil. Good tips! Replaced the apps this weekend and did nothing.

I am right there with you, I was getting ready to change the APPS as soon as I could afford it...lol

I am going to check all this tonight and maybe my truck will be back on the road!

Has anyone come up with a permanent fix or a root cause for this?

Is it a faulty ground circiut from the factory or something that wears down over time?

This and several other threads are very helpful.

Walmart isnt goin to warranty them so im gonna need to wait a little bit for some money i am putting out over 5k for a full DTT trans this week. (not for trans surging problem though) truck will be down for a while so i will will put a battery in when truck is down.

but back to trans surge problem i hear that the reflash works and get rid of it for good. darn to bad i dont work at dodge anymore.
