Only place I could find that even had that code was our own Tech Facts section

P0071 Ambient Temperature Sensor Performance / Rationality

Could be the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor.

Here's a page with the cleaning/replacing instructions.

http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/sensors/IAT/clean.htm

Hope this helps

I just looked on my 01 service CD and it doesn't list that code at all. It starts at P0030 then P0036 then P0106 and thats it for the P00 codes.
I wonder what it is as well.

Vato zone confirmed ambiant temp sensor like phox said.....from what I understand (and Im wrong daily, just ask my wife!) its the one that lives behind the grill, anyway the check engine light went away as the problem did not repeat.....so its a non issue.
