Cam Journal Diameter?

Does any know the sizes of the Camshaft journals.

I am looking at pulling my cam to chase down a tapping noise and I wanted to make a sleeve to put in camshaft bore to keep the lifters out of my pan while the cam is out.

I have seen a couple of how to articles where they show a "C" shaped sleeve they put in the cam bore for this purpose. Is this a tool that can be purchased from Cummins?

You have to hold the lifters up while you remove the cam and to do that use 1/2" dowel in the top of the lifter and then rubber band the top to hold them up yes cummins does make a kit for it but you still have to hold the lifters up first

The diameter you are looking for is 1.5" od pipe. Some use conduit (works well). I have also heard of people using PVC....I compared both a couple minutes ago and the PVC in 1 1/2" looks to be a dead ringer in OD compared to the conduit I use.
