Brake Rotor Info Please

Hey Guys

I have a 2002 Cummins 2500 4X4. I've got some wear on the drivers side rotor... What is involved in changing out the rotor? Easy Job... No special tools required?

Thanks!

Should by easy enough but time consuming especially the first time through. I think you can remove the rotors without taking it off the hub assembly. Air chisel with point attachment, line up each stud and press out past the hub assembly flange. If you can't do it without taking off the hub assembly (I can't recall off the top of my head), then search on this forum for hub assembly removal (or ball joint removal). It again is fairly easy with knowing the proper tricks. Good luck.

its a slip on rotor, no need to pop out studs, just unbolt caliper, unbolt caliper bracket, (think you need a 12point 16mm socket) slide the rotor off (might need a smack with a hammer) and re-assemble in reverse order

I have a 99 4x4, I thought you had to press the rotors off the hub assembly? Did they change it after 99?

Yes, they changed the brakes (front and rear) , knuckles, and ball joints for the 2000 model year.

Good old Dodge. The more I work on my '99 the more I think they had the "D" crew of the design team make my year up... In that case, OP, you shouldn't have any problems at all. Enjoy your 30 min. brake job.
