Block Heater element replacement?

Has anyone changed the block heater element and how hard is it? I know it sits in the coolant and it will need to be filled but I need to relplace my heater element and just wondering what kind of process I am in for?

No, I figured there was more of a chace of the element burning out before the cord going bad. I did unplug it from the element and cleaned it up on both ends and no luck.

check for continuity. the plug end of the cord has a tendency to separate internally.

Just changed mine last week. I, too thought it might be the cord, but I unplugged it from the element plugged into 110 and checked for juice at element end it was present so I replaced the element. $28.00 from Cummins, drain the radiator until coolant does not come out from where element goes in. Install new one put on cord and you are ready to go.

if your quick you can change it without draining the coolant. prep your new element break the old one lose and turn it off while pressing it to the block till you feel it "click" and do a quick switcher'ue and thread your new one in. you lose maybe a quart of fluid if done properly. oh and take the rad cap off so air goes in there and not sucked into the block.
