block heater cord replacement

you guys get them from the dealer, cummins, or ive even heard napa carries the cord. i need to replace the one on my 02 as well as pick one up to put on the old man's 04.5 (same part number i believe)

if so does anyone have the part number? started my truck at 24*F today and after 25 minutes it barely moved the needle off of 140* and barely cleared the frost off the windshield.

(it doesnt help that for some reason i still cant get hot air from the heater core, only slightly warm air)

I tried to find one of my old post but no luck. I bought mine @ NAPA as it came with no cord, but I don't remember the part #. I think it was 18 to 25 dollars and they had to order it. Took 5 min to put it on. Do a search for "block heater cord" and see if that helps.

Found it! NAPA part # is 605-9710. At least it is for the 04s.

Local dealer has them in stock for $40. I ended up repairing mine. A good soldering pen is nice to have

i went to wire mine into a nice RV style waterproof male receptacle i mounted on the bumper instead of having the loose cord hanging out, but the wire inside the cord was all corroded, green and brittle. i need a fresh one!

plus i wanna pick one up for the old man

I see, makes sense. I also moved mine out from underneath the radiator to the front, under the headlight. I will hide it above the headlight in the off season.
