block heater???

i have an '01 and i was going to start using the block heater yesterday but when I plugged it in, it blew the breaker in my garage. i tried 1 of the other outlets in the garage and it blew the breaker again. does this sound like a bad block heater element? is there any way to test to make sure it is bad b4 i spend the money to get a new heater?

Good advice. Mine was the cord, too. I went with a whole new heater in a different location. The school bus version replaces one of the expansion freeze plugs in the side of the block.
