Axle question
Axle swap question.
I have purchased a set of 03 3500 SRW axles that have low miles on them. I currently have a 2000 2500 truck that has 120k miles on the OD. I purchased these axles with the intent to swap them out for a few reasons...
1.)they have nearly 100k less miles on them than mine.
2.)My FD60 needs new hubs, steering linkage, and possible a new pinion with bearings (has a vibration in 4x4 that feels like a Pinion, and I have already tried u-joints) New front AAM has good bearing, all the steering linkages still ing good working order!
3.)Rear D80 bleaw apart the spiders in the LS assembly last year, and even after replacing them and the clutches, it still doesnt seem right.
4.)The 03 axles are rear disk brakes, and my axles are Drums.
5.)Want to use my axles on an offroad rig prodject (killing two birds with one stone so to speak)
My question for you all is that I have heard they bolt right in, no modifications needed, but I have also heard that you may have to chage the Master Brake booster due to switching to rear disks? is this true?
PS, the rear leafs on the 03 trucks wouldnt happen to be the same as the 3nd gen trucks would they be?
