I would like to know what kind of life to expect out of this 47re.I had it changed over to Amsoil synthetic at 40.000.I don't pull any heavy loads just a 3000 lb.fishing boat .Would like to know if there are any ways to increase life and perfomance inexpensively.
deezel,
Sorry no one has answered you yet. To be frank, if all you are doing is enjoying your truck and hauling a 3k fishing bout, I'm not sure you should worry about it. Just keep up with your maintenance and adjust those bands when required to do so. If you want a little more performance you may think about a trans-go shift kit. Those trannys under moderate use are pretty stout. I can relate to you from personal experience that I drive my truck with my edge comp box on 5x5 all day every day for the last 50 k miles or so on a stock tranny and have never had one iota of a problem. Now, if you are hauling 21k in horses you may need to upgrade or just buy a Peterbilt. Scott

I agree...no big worries!
I would change the filter and the Amsoil @ 35,000-40,000. Stay with the synthetic! Some will say overkill....I say cheap preventative Mx. And I would keep it out of OD under 50 mph. Other than that...just check fluid level regularly...in neutral and when warm.
How long will it last?...Luck of the draw. If you have a good one....250,000+ miles. Others I have heard of started showing sighs of wear, on stock trucks, as early as 100,000-125,000 miles.
