I Have A 99 2500 4+4 5.9 Cummins Auto. Recently Solved My Rpm Gauge And Shifting Problem By Replacing The Crank Sensor. Now When Cruising Around 30-50 Mph The Trans Shifts In And Out Like It Cant Find The Right Gear. I Saw Other Posts About The Tps And Apps, Having A 99 Diesel I Dont Think I Have A Tps, Is This Correct? What Do You Think May Be Wrong?

It has a TPS, try rapidly pushing the throttle to the floor with the key off 10-15 times, might be a corrosion issue inside the TPS. Other possibilities are bad grounds at the battery, or noise in the Alt. wire.
My 02 is still shifting funny between 1 and 2, I have to let off the rpms for a split second then she will shift into 2nd.to 3 and 4 th are okay, I replaced my new altenator with a another new one and still the same problem. This all started when my old altenator stopped charging. I did the battery disconnect and slowly pushed fuel pedal to the floor and back up slowly. Still the same. any ideas.

I had the same problem. I shielded the alternator wire and the problem went away - for a couple days. It got to the point that I was routinely diconnecting the batteries every few days. Another lister mentioned that there is a connector on the alternator ground wire located under the passenger side battery box. This connector often corrodes. I removed the connector and spliced the wires together and I haven't had the problem in 8 months.
