Auto tranny problem solved

Traded my 96 auto yesturday . Now I'm the proud owner of a 01 Quad Cab 6 speed 4x4 ;D. I now have a few questions. This truck is very impressive over the other one. The auto must really lose alot of power. I have a ez box i could put on the new truck but I dont think i need it. If I put it on will it shorten the life of this tranny. What is the life of this tranny. What do i need to do maintenace wise. How do I know if i have the new or old 6 speed. Please help with any info. Thanks everyone.

EZ will not hurt your tranny, up the HP a lot and the clutch may need to be upgraded.

Yeah. The NV5600 1-3/8" input 10-spline 6-speed tranny is very beefy. You can not hurt it. Period. The only thing you'll need to upgrade is your clutch. Remember a manual is just gears, not fluid. The life expectancy (factory stated) of a NV5600 is 350,000 miles. It was heavily revised and overhauled from the older 12-spline version originally made for the Cummins. Ask anyone who has one... it's very stout. I wouldn't worry about it at all. I have the same tranny. It's unkillable.

Ok so since it's a 01 I have the ETH trans not the ETC. How can you tell? How can I find out what gear ratio I have?Just noticed this afternoon I have rear disc brakes ;D. What does a SB clutch cost and If I add the Edge EZ will it start slipping early.
