I find myself having to make an unexpected towing trip in 2 days and would like to change the ATF and filter before leaving. I'm currently searching the forums, but does ATF+3 (or +4) plus LubeGard sound like a good idea? I've never used it before and have a mistrust of 'mystery oil in little bottles'. Any quick words of wisdom? Thanks!

Just buy ATF+4 and be done with it.

 

I talked to Dave Goerend about this in the past. He says to stay with the ATF+3 or the dextron with lube guard for older higher mileage trans, especially towing.
