Alternator quit
Well this winter keeps getting better and better
Driving home last night I hear the ding-ding alarm, look at the dash which says check gauges. I watched the volt meter drop to nothing. My question to you all is where are you buying replacements? My old one is a Bosch, A-zone has it at $259, anyone have suggestions. Thank's

on the denso alternator its typically brushes that wear out, and its a 10$ fix, remove the rear cover and remove brush holder...
I think many shops sell a repair kit (brushes/bearings/v-reg) but depending on whats actually wrong with your alternator the repair parts might not fix it.
other option is to take it to a rebuild shop, around here its typically 80-90$ for them to rebuild your alt

Update....I take the brush holder off to check brushes, they seem ok. put it back together and take the alternator to A-zone. It tests fine. I come home and put it back together and it's charging normal. Could the brushes been stuck? any input from you guys would be great!

I would have a look at the PDC under the hood, for a loose connection.
Mine did this from new, every couple months, til I found the problem. Took about 4 years to locate it. I didn't ever suspect the alternator, as it was a brand new truck. ( although that doesn't mean much these days )
Just something to think about.
