Air Tex Installation.

So any one got any tips or tricks too installing the air tex pump? any thing I should look out for and how are the instructions that it comes with? I have done my lift pump once but I see a barbed fitting on the back of the new pump is there a rubber hose that I have too remove a fitting? and last but not least does it have the new washers in it? my carter did not and had too reuse the old ones.

where did you get the airtex pump?
the carter direct fit replacement has metric threads for the oem banjo fittings....when i put mine on the frame, i ran a 3/8 pipe tap in , went to NAPA and bought some 3/8 sae hose barbs.... by the way, i don't have any banjo fittings until the filter housing

The airtex bolts in the same spot as the OEM lift pump. The oulet side the kit comes with 2 washers and a cap. You install one washer, your banjo fitting another washer and the cap. The inlet of the pump has a 90 degree adaptor wich slides on the airtex inlet. You remove the factory banjo inlet adaptor at the quick disconnect and then slide the factory fuel line on to the airtex supplied 90 degree adaptor tube. I will post a pic of the kit. Its straight foreward.

So I got the pump in but I cannot for the life of me no matter how I slice it cannot get the inlet side of the pump too stop leaking. I am half tempted too pull the line off and cut the darn quick connect off and put the hose on with a hose clamp and be done with it. Is it possible to do that since its on the inlet side not the pressure side?

Is it the 90 degree adaptor to the pump or the old line to the adaptor? All there is sealing are o-rings.

I did the only thing is I did not need the 90deg adapter as my line matched up. But what I did take the old push lock tabs off the old pump and put them on the new line is this whats not allowing me too seal the line??

You should have ordered it with the relocate kit.

Remove the line from the stock lp to the filter housing (discard), screw the elbow supplied with the airtex into the filter inlet, shove the rubber hose onto that and feed it to the underside. Then unplug the stock lp and plug in the adapter harness that came with it. Shove it down. Then crawl under and bolt the new pump to the frame rail right under the drivers seat. Plug the hose to the output of the pump, plug the harness in, then cut the fuel supply line and push some of the remaining hose onto it. Secure it with two clamps, then push the hose onto the inlet side of the pump.

Takes about 20 minutes, and you can hear the pump run each time it cranks up, so you know it's working, while your double checking your fuel pressure gauge.

You do have a fuel pressure gauge permanently installed, right?

Diesel Distributors had the complete kit when I did mine, but I just looked and didn't see it.

Have a guage and the whole nine yards wanted too stay on the motor as I don't want my pump or lines or power wires ripped off by sage brush and branches while in the woods or out on the grass lands feeding the cows. I did reuse the blue plastic lock off the old pump on the inlet too the new pump was i not supoda do that?

Why did you not use the 90 adaptor? Maybe there is a size difference or else you cut a sealing o-ring.

Turns out its not the push on fitting its the pressure side. I cannot for the life of me get it too not leak. I broke the power lead off trying too get it tight so I have too order a new pump. Is it a better idea too take the hose from the outlet too the ff canister off and put the fitting on before so I can hold it with a wrench too keep it from spinning? Also I am going too check the hose and probably put a new one on while its out.
