Adding a plow to the Ram.. Anything I need to know?

I am going to put a western plow on my truck this month. I have plowed in the past and installed plows as needed. Typical DIY guy. I am looking for the things you learn about particular trucks.. You know, save me the hassle later type stuff.

My trans pan is rusted and I plan to replace it. Will either of these be better than a steel replacement?

MAG-HYTEC 727 TRANSMISSION PAN (DEEP) - ('98-'07 DODGE) $237.50

MAG-HYTEC 727 TRANSMISSION PAN (DBL DEEP) - ('98-'07 DODGE) $270.75

I am going to pull the diff covers, change the fluid and clean and paint them.

I also want to buy the Dodge APPS Noise Isolator - 1994-2005 $25.00. keep that torque converter locked up.

What things have you done to impove your dodge ram plow truck?

I've had a plow for 5 seasons now, and when I put the frame in I did not have a front sway bar installed . It needed links I couldn't afford, and handled fine with just the rear bar, so then when I went to put the sway bar back in I couldn't wiggle the bar back in between the frame and the plow frame. So I'm not sure how the Western bracket is, but might wanna throw in new sway bar bushings first.

And do some sort of underbody treatment (POR-15 example) every year, I have BIG problems with my rocker panels rotting from the inside out, as well as the front cab mount, fenders, and coil spring seats. Most of the problems are on my drivers side. I neglected it for 2 years, so my own fault, but it can be prevented somewhat.

i put an 8ft curtis on my 01 last year, It weighs 850lbs so did a leveling kit and dual shock kit from top gun customz. I also replace the sway bar end links with a set of solid ones. The truck drive about the same with or without the plow on it now but it is a little stiffer than factory. If you do dual shocks, stay away from the gas shocks, way too stiff
