abs,brake light staying on

I checked both sides of front axle for play in the wheel bearing and near side had any play. The lights stayed on. Is there a way to tell which side threw the code? What to check or do next? Its on a 02 2500 dodge 4wd.

You can check them with a digital ohm meter just unplug it set your ohm meter on 200k and jack up the wheel so you can rotate it while you watch the meter you will see it counting if it is good. There is also one on the top of the rear end. Also check the fuses it could be a blown fuse on the abs or the brake lights.

Could also be blown brake hose or line, check your fluid levels if you haven't already.

got good fluid level, brakes work fine, is there anything other than a wheel speed sensor that could turn the lights on?

I had a wire harness that runs to the rear end sensor rubbing on the parking brake cable enough that it wore through the jacket, insulation and into the copper conductor causing it to ground out and turn the light on.

Mine drove me nuts for years. Turned out to be the switch on the brake pedal. The switch worked the brake lights fine but had a bad connection on one contact. Enough to fool the computer into thinking the brake pedal was pushed in. The switch was like 12 bucks to replace.
