4x4 front u-joint removal?
Ok, I'm part way through replacing all front brake components and was going to change the u-joints because it's all apart. The problem I've run into is the darn clips are rusted togther to the yokes. I can't free them up with punches or small chisels. Penetrating fluid so far hasn't helped. Aside from cutting each lobe of the u-joint off (I only have one cut off disc for my saw right now, not enough to finish the job), how do I get the old u-joint out? Oh yeah, it's a 3500 dually with those oddball type u-joints with the half-clips on the inside. Any suggestions? To be honest, now that the right side is apart the u-joint motion seems OK and doesn't need to be changed, but I'd like to do the job once.

When I did mine they were so rusted I used the torch and burnt them out. Cut the u joint and watch out for the hot grease. I still had to use a Ujoint or C Clamp to remove the cups in the Yolk. Took 5 mins instead of two days pressing back and forth. Salt is a killer here in the winter.

That's about what I thought. It's all back together now. When the u-joints go, at least the front end will come apart easier, thanks to Never-seize.

I did the same thing you did. I have 2 brand new U-joints ready to go when I can get the rings off. Next time I will cut them off from the inside, since I'm convinced there's no other easy way to get them off....
