I've got a 98.5 and would love to lay this issue to rest, but it's about a 5 hour project so I'm hoping Piperca's info is correct. If some of the early 24v had them then there had to be a revision change on the print and I don't think all the block were cast at the same plant. I can see lot control falling through the cracks.

I started a new thread asking once and for all for the 24V guys who had to fix theirs to post. I would like to lay it to rest also.

I hear conflicting stories too. I was concerned to hear that when Cummins went from the 12 valve to the 24 valve they had to use up the remaining gear casings ... come to find out they don't even fit! I know some 24 valve owners have done the tab from outside, so they'll never know if there truly was an issue. Another member gave input when he was P-pumping his truck and mentioned, even if the pin backed out, it was impossible for it to back out totally, since there was an obstruction on the casing preventing it from doing so.

I don't know either, I'm in the dark too, but I tend to lean towards there not being a problem ... based upon the evidence so far. Not to mention, how many 24 valve KDP failures have you ever heard about?
