235 hp auto?

I have an '01 cummins Dodge with the auto tranny. I'm looking at the Banks Big head wastegates, and they all say not for use on the 235hp auto trucks? Anyone know why? And how can I tell if mine is one of 235hp ones? I'm running superchips flashpaq tuner, s&b airintake, 4" turbo back straight pipe & a Fass 95/95 lift pump and fuel filter and air system. I'd like to get the turbo spool up quicker. I'm also curious baout these boost fooler things.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Kerry

Autos are 235hp you can run the BIG head you already have power add ons and banks just likes to take the liability off them. + stock autos dont like a lot of power but thats easy to fix

Hard to get much faster spoolup than what you already have.... unless you have turbo problems?
Suspect your just having to deal with the altitude and less available air.

Suggestion: Sell the Super Chip and get a Smarty. By far the prefered box around here. Adds about 65 hp and boost fooler included on that one. Lets you spool above 22 psi without codes or defueling and will do a lot for drivability, IMO.

Also, Welcome! By far the best Dodge CTD site on the Web!

thanks

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I think i'll be ordering the wastegate soon. And it's ironic you mention the smarty, I was just reading the reviews on extreme diesel.com about it. I'll prolly get that and the afe bladerunner intake and the water/meth system in the next month or so also.

The reason why the wastegate won't work on the 235hp autos is they are the ones with the HY35, which has a hardline from the compressor housing to the wastegate. The HX35's have a rubber line. Either you are looking at cutting that line, or putting an HX35 on. The wastegate actuator won't help you spool up any faster unless your current gate is leaking, and if its because of anything other than a weak actuator, the new one won't fix it.

How much is the actuator? I'd personally save my money for something more worth while. Get a j-hook or a turn buckle and save the hundreds of dollars.

So putting the big head wastegate on isnt worth it? Mines working fine, I just thought the banksunit wouldhelp her spool up a lil' faster. So I should just save my money? Whats the j-hook do? Is it a power adder?

The J-hook holds the wastegate closed so you can build more boost pressure. I use a turnbuckle on my truck instead of a J-hook. Turnbuckle cost me a little over $2 at Tractor Supply. To run either one you'll need a box or programer that has boost fooling. I'm using the Quad XZT but a Smarty would be another good choice.

Where are you in Colo. I will be in Firestone 13th/14th at my brothers. You can try my Smarty.

Smarty is good but I like the "on the fly" adjustability of the XZT+. Smarty has more settings but I like simple so I went with the Quad. Either one would make you happy.

Just because they have the biggest adds in the Mags doesn't make them the best!
I don't know anyone running the Banks big head. Don't waste your money!
Save your money and buy a used HX35, put a boost elbow on it and you'll be fine.

Big Head won't fit!
J-Hook is just to keep wastegate closed longer for more boost. Not more power, unless your overfueled, but more air. Turnbuckle is cheaper and works as well, until you hit 32 psi boost (max for your HY-35 turbo). Smarty and 32 psi boost is great towing combo.

I agree w/ Scotte ^; HX-35 is best bet for you. But be aware, The HY-35 turbo you have is the fastest spooling turbos ever put on a CTD.
If your wishing for faster, stay with what you have as long as you can. Bigger turbos always spool a bit slower.
