235,000.00 on one IP

It happened this week. Dead pedal and the death code.

I drove this truck off the lot and pulled a trailer almost every day. I changed the fuel filter every other oil change. (Your lift pump can't pump fuel through a dirty filter no matter how good it is)
Every time I changed the filter I would suck the canister dry and fill it with Silo or Sea foam injector cleaner.
I changed the first lift pump at 180,000. miles. I have no idea why that pump lasted so long. I replaced it with a stock Cummings lift pump.( Is this the proplem?)

Was I lucky or did the filter change intervile and injector cleaner prolong the pump.

Congrats, that's a good run on an original IP. The filter changes and injection cleaner couldn't have hurt and most likely extended is life a bit.

A little luck goes a long way I guess.

Original lift pump lasting that long surely helped, diligence in filter changes had to play some part, but it was mostly luck.

I'm on my original lift pump, change the fuel filter every other oil change (every 10K like clockwork),
only have just under 60K miles though and already on the 2nd VP which was put in at just under 5K miles.
Total fluke failure though, was just bad out of the gate.
