My '02 (original owner) 2500 is 100% stock with the pump replaced at 98,000 miles. Is there some general maintenance that I should have done? I think I need to put a few bucks into it. It hasn't taken anything other than fuel $$ from me.

I've been looking for a 2006-07 mega cab w/5.9 to switch to but the more I look the better my '02 looks. I just need it to be quieter. I park it between 2 houses(echos off the houses) and I start it up at 5:30am. It's the neighborhood alarm clock.

Any advice on a way to clean up the engine and engine compartment?

 

2-stroke in the fuel seems to have an effect on my trucks noise level as far as the IP is concerned.

As for quieting it down, it is what it is, a clattering 24v Cummins. Short of dynamatting the engine compatment and replacing tired exhaust parts, I am not sure what else you could do...

 

I tried the same quieting efforts installing new exhaust & muffler with not much results. That's a 24v for ya. Started looking for a 3rd gen 4dr and then went right back to my nice paid for 24v.

 

adjust valves?

biodiesel will help make it quieter..not as easy to get as 2cycle oil.

its just the nature of the beast..
