2001 loses Injector Pump at 80k

My buddies 2001 lost the Injector Pump about two months ago at about 80,000. He got to work, shut down, and it never hit another lick until it got a new Pump.

They changed the Lift Pump at the same time.

He asked me to see if anyone else had it happen, or is it a fluke?

It's because of this and lift pumps in general that I desire a 12v!!!

Sounds like a fluke to me. I had a 01 the lift pump went out around 90 k and i drove it for at least 5k before i knew it went out. Never had an injector pump problem and ran it to around 140k before the drivetrain gave me some problem and i haul loads from 15k to22k on the trailer. My 98 went out but i caught within a day and replaced i and that was about 3k ago and haven't had a problem

sorry you own a fruad. i hope your buddy knows his truck had a 100000 mile warrenty on those parts. 9 times out of 10 the injection pumop going out is after the lift pump is starting to fail. the lift pump supplies 70% more fuel than is sent to the injector. the rest is used to cool the injection pump.

80,000 miles? Not bad. My L/P went at 4000 miles and the injection pump at about 4500 miles, of course it was covered by warranty.

Bill
