1999 Computer Problems?

My father-in-law recently purchased a 1999 1 ton dually dodge truck. The computer went out, meaning that it wouldn't start regularly. He took it to the shop, and they said the computer needed replacing. He sent the computer off to some place that rebuilt it. He put the rebuilt computer back in and it worked fine...for maybe an hour. He parked it and came back the next day and it wouldn't start up at all. He called the computer rebuilders and they said something must be frying the computer. He tried starting it, but fuel pump didn't want to work. When he did get it started, the glow plugs stayed on after the engine fired up to the point that the wires were getting hot. He unplugged them, but then while idling, the throttle wasn't working. He's not sure what might be wrong. Could the computer be messing everything up? Possible fixes or areas to look at? Thanks for the help

Doesn't sound good.

Check grounds and batteries. No glow plugs on this engine, it's has air intake heater.
