100,000 miles
My truck just rolled over the 100k mark. So far the only thing that has been replaced has been lift pumps.
What has everyone had to replace after the 100,000 mile mark? |
Re:100,000 miles
Prior to the 100k
fornt brakes shocks crank sensor oil / filters /fluids |
Re:100,000 miles
Several more lift pumps, injector pump, transmission, clutch, brakes (fronts), windshield.
|
Re:100,000 miles
I did replace the brakes once at 75,000. Changed the coolant and t-stat recently. Still have not changed the front diff fluid yet.

Re:100,000 miles
Before 100,000- nothing other than filters, etc., 1 set tires.
By 200,000- Another set tires, & a lift pump. By 250,000- 2 more lift pumps, front & rear brakes, front wheel bearing, upper ball joints, engine rebuild(because of my own stupidity!) By 355,000- 2 more sets of tires, another lift pump, alt. brushes, speed sensor, transfer case output seal. All in all, I'm quite happy with how the truck has held up. There really wasn't anything that's happened that I couldn't expect. Other than the engine, but then that one was my fault!( not watching EGT's when I should have been. I need a big honkin' buzzer!!!) |
Re:100,000 miles
Stake -
75,000 mi - tires & shocks 95,000 mi - brakes & ATS trans 55,000 mi - lift pump 100,000 mi - lotsa money to Rod...turbo, injectors, more injectors, etc... Been fun ever since...has 118,000 now...lift pump still good. |
Re:100,000 miles
My truck JUST turned over 201,000 miles this past month.
It's a 98.5 with the "weak" VP44. Pump is original - I've replaced the following: 275RV injectors at 80,000 miles (just for fun). Get DD3s if you're thinking injectors! 5th gear nut - whichever mileage is "DC Warranty limits + 250" - got serious about maintaining the thing by myself! THis was a fun task! Lift pump at ~120,000 CKP (crank position sensor) at 120,000 Pilot bearing failed at 186,000, and I was in Indianapolis at the time - so I went with the South Bend clutch since Peter was in the neighborhood :-) Fun task. Bought KatDiesel's DD3s and put them in this spring, ~190,000mi - LOVE 'EM!! Also replaced the original trackbar at this time. Easy task. And this past weekend I treated her to a new set of control arms (trailing arms), swaybar links, front shocks... I was surprised how much steering wander disappeared with the control arm relpacement - the rubber in the old ones was hardened - this really quieted down the ride and noise from the front end... My truck is paid for - I'm 30 years old now, and this is the first vehicle I've ever paid off completely. I've considered replacing it with an 03 truck - but I just cannot part with it. As long as I can get parts, I'm keeping it - probably gonna get a TDI Jetta like my girlfriend's as a daily driver, and retire the truck to "powered wheelbarrow" duty around the house. In all the Cummins has made owning this truck quite a pleasure... it's easy to work on... -scott |

Re:100,000 miles
I think its time to replace the track bar for the first time. Was thinking about doing the the ball joints too. Maybe new shocks wouldn't hurt either. :)
