02 cummins suggestions

i'm lookin to do some upgrades on my 02, but i need something that will be cost effective and not kill me runnin down the road. i'm currently stationed in gulfport, ms, but will be moving to port hueneme, ca this weekend so all the upgrades will be made there. i was wondering if there r any good shops around there. also, r there any sites out there that r for strictly military that might offer discounted prices? thanks

That is a broad question. Start with gauges or:

Sell the truck before the VP dumps. These trucks are not cost effective unless you can justify the cost ie because you haul. Repair & upgrades become a hobby or problem depending on how you look at it.

Your truck will need gauges, fuel, front end repair, etc all are discussed in detail.

the lift pump, injector pump, and injectors, along with the throttle positioning switch were all already replaced by the previous owner. will this make thing easier?

My first addition was a power puck. Reasonably cheap and an effective power boost.

Start with gauges and a fuel system. Then perhaps you won't need another VP for a while.

i was lookin and saw that dieseltrans.com has a very affordable package that includes injectors and an hx40 turbo. from what i can tell the site only offers name brand stuff and they offer military discounts. has anyone else heard about this site?

A FP gauge is a most. Seems like most people like the Smarty of some flavor for additonal power at a reasonable cost. If you plan to run at top level, pyro and boost would be needed. Bypassing the turbo wasre gate also will boost power, at little to no cost.
