My front axle seal on the drivers side is leaking pretty badly. I have a friend who used to have a 98.5, he bought the seals for his but never used them and says I can have them.

So my question is, will they work or are mine different then they were in 98. If they are the same its great because he also has the fsm for that truck which i could use if its the same.

Ok so I'm pulling the front end apart right now, any tips or advice?

 

Ok well, I got it apart the seals are different so Im gonna go look for seals.

 

So... just how nasty of a job was it?

 

I need to replace mine too. Is it something do-able or left taking it to a shop?

 

depends how mechanical you are, you basically have to take the front axle completly apart, the hardest part is getting the seals in, I didn't have the proper tool and made something to get the seals in out of a piece of pipe. I did thge whole on a saturday.
