01 flash

my dealer called and told me there was a bullitin he had pulled up saying that the 01'S had a flash available that would increase power in the overdrive mode. said they had detuned the 01's so they did not have so much torke in overdrive to save on tranny problems.
mine is in being serviced now and wanted to know if i wanted him to flash mine. i have been having problems with mine staying in overdrive when towing uphill

I'd be interested to find out about this one too.

Not trying to hijack your thread, but is there a place that we can find out about any/all available flashes for our trucks? (cold high idle, three cylinder, etc.) Seems like hit and miss with the dealers as far as what flashes they are aware of and choose to pass on to the consumers.

i know there were some real horror stories about some flashes they were doing on some of the gassers a while back

wish i could get a little more info from someone has had this flash put on theirs before i let them do it. they were performing a flash on gassers a couple years ago that was irreversable that caused an engine ping loss of milelage and performance. hope i am not getting into one of those.

I had an ECM flash on my '02 for lack of power while towing. The TSB was #18-014-01, and the sticker the dealer put in my engine compartment had another number on it ( 3130 3402 J ). It did seem to help a little with power and economy both. I'm averaging 18 or so MPG with the "winter" fuel with about 10 % biodiesel and some additives with about half and half highway/city driving.

I had the reflash done. The truck seemed to run a little better. Not much.

ok folks here's the latest. just talked to my son who is heading west in idaho now and he has unloaded the 2nd carriage and dropped the windbreaker on the trailer and says the truck will pass everything on the road and has got 185 miles on a 1/2 tank of fuel.
so, as long as it doesn't have much wind resistance it is fine add some wind resistance and i can outpull it with my 318.
????????????
