zip tie tv cable, temporary or not?

I zip tied my tv cable open a while back right before I did the truck pulls to get my truck shifting at higher rpms. I've adjusted it as far as it'd go before and it still shifted way too early. So I put a few zip ties together and tied it open about halfway, it then shifts at about 18-1900 rpm right about where I want it. It feels like it shifts much stronger and firmer like it should from the increased pressure. I've heard of people doing this during races or competitions but that its not good to let the trans operate at that high of pressure all the time? Its not all the way open on mine but it sure helped a lot and I'm thinkin about tightening it a bit more and leaving it. Is it a bad idea to do this or will it hurt my trans more (even though I'm not too worried about it)? Seems much better than it was, any thoughts?
