who is a good troubleshooter

the problem: no brake lights, no turn signals, no backups, no cruise controll, no spedo worky.

i checked: fuses(with a current light_ also pulled them for visual inspection just in case), bulbs.

I fixed: spedo, - now works. The sensor on the tranny was hangin off for some crazy reason...

what now:?????????

Check your backup light switch.

Check your bulbs. Believe it or not, I've had 2 go out at once.

Check for bad/ worn ground.

Visually inspect the wiring harness that runs down the left frame rail to the rear of the truck. 80% of problems involving the rear lights seem to be caused by someone splicing into this wiring (poorly) to install trailer wiring. Salt, slush and gravel attack it quickly and corrosion will finish it off. Some people seem to add an extra foot of wire and let it dangle under the bumper where it gets caught up and torn away. I hope it's that simple.

Most generally all the problems I have had with electrical systems that all go out at once or gradually go out are grounds. Check all the grounds for good contacts, {no rust, bad trminals ect} the tow package is a good place to start. Good luck.---Ray

If all else fells, check the fuse links on the driver side fender. They can be burned in two, get out the test light and the wireing diagram.

I've been finding curprises from the previous owner on my 2 trucks as well. It takes just as much effort to fix it right as it does to rig it.

The fusible links are under the hood on the left side right under the hood hinge and slightly forward in the big bundle of wiring. You may have to take off some tape or split loom to get to them. You may not, either.

TWO THINGS....

1. Where is the fusible link??? I see a group of four connectors on the driver fender with caps on them then four smaller wires connecting on the bottom.

There are several fusible links, they are on the wiring harness just below the hood hinge.

The long threaded rod that holds the spare, can rub om the rear wiring harness as well, When i bought my truck, this area was rubbed nearly through, Moved wires, and covered with a bit of heater hose, Someone in the passed fooled with the wiring back there, and, well, Just let it hang,
Is was rear driver side of under bed spare.

This just in......

I pulled off the three black "fusible links or relays" that are bolted to the fender and majically all the lights started working. They are four prong connectors. Who knows what these are or a p/n??? and where can i get one.
Shouldnt it still not work if its disconected and these are broken and disconectedf???
I am confused

Those are relays, not fusible links. With those gone you will have no A/C, no charging system, and no starter. None of them have anything at all to do with the lights.
